San Francisco International Airport shuttle and private transfer options

Shared shuttles and public buses from San Francisco International Airport run to the main towns on fixed timetables. They are the cheapest option for a single traveller with light luggage, but they stop at a terminal or square, not at your hotel, and depart when scheduled rather than when your flight lands.

A private transfer is the door-to-door alternative: the driver meets you at arrivals, loads your luggage and drives straight to your hotel in Downtown San Francisco, Palo Alto and Napa or any of 3 destinations. The price is per vehicle from £126, so for two or more travellers it is usually close to the shuttle cost per person.

Late-night arrivals, families with children and groups with a lot of luggage are the typical reasons travellers switch from the shuttle to a private vehicle.
